During this blog I will summarize the key things you as an online business owner should be doing to drive traffic from your Instagram posts to your websites, landing pages and sales pages. Instagram users generate 3.5 BILLION likes every day on some 80 MILLION photo’s shared daily. There is huge opportunity for you to harness some of this traffic and drive it to your website. Link to your Website
Instagram does not allow you to post a image with a clickable link to an external website (for free). This is a major shame for any online business looking to market their brand. You can however use you BIO page to put a link to a website. Lets say for example you had just written a blog and wanted to share this with your followers. What you could do is firstly generate your short link for the post. Its important to use a short link to ensure it fits on your BIO and also if you did want to include the link in a post there is a better chance of a reader remembering or copying the URL if it is short. I use TidyURL for this because it is FREE and endorsed by The Six Figure Mentors who taught me all I know about marketing so I trust them implicitly. Once you have made your short link, paste it into your BIO and only then will you make your post live. You don’t want to make the post before pasting the new bio link in case any early bird’s click the wrong “worm”. When you type your post message it is vital to make a good Call To Action. This means making sure your readers are clearly told to go to your @username and click on your bio link in order to see your new blog post or whatever it is you want to drive traffic to. Don’t be worried by getting less likes on these types of posts. It could be a sign you are getting more clicks to your website! Use High Quality Images
The image you choose is what connects you with your followers. Photos generate more engagement than videos on Instagram. Try and show your product in a vibrant ambiance, instead of a just standing by itself with a plain background after all its not a profile picture. use any enhancement apps, plugins or widgets to really show your product or brand in its best light. This applies to not just the marketing Call To Action Post but every post you make. People buy people and if your videos show off your personality this can really connect with your audience and encourage them to buy into you as a person and as a brand. Engage the Community
Look at your followers posts, like them and/or add comments. Make sure the comment actually shows the page owner you are engaging in the post content. Don’t just say “Great” or “Good Post”. Engage with your following and they will engage with you. Use their @username in comments, ask questions and engage in dialogue. Every time you like and comment you spread your @username more widely. And this brings me on to my next point which is , posts that include another username/handle gain 56% more engagement. Ask friends who have their own followers on Instagram to share your post with your @username listed. Perhaps they could do a post shout out/introduction or you could offer to do a reciprocated shout out/introduction where you do a post for them and they do one for you both with your respected handles on there. Great way to engage with new people and use your friends credibility to your advantage. After all the stats don’t lie (56% greater engagement for a post with a user handle).
