Got a Facebook account? Got an online Business? Need more website hits? Find out How to Drive Traffic to your Website with Facebook!
Facebook is the worlds largest social media network. It has over 1.5 BILLION users worldwide. It has been stated that as of October 2014, 25% of all web traffic came from Facebook. If your analytics are not showing that 25% of your hits are coming from Facebook, you are missing out on FREE traffic. During this blog I aim to assist you with how to drive traffic to your website with Facebook.
Post content people will want to SHARE
The aim here is to post content on Facebook that people will feel has sufficient value to warrant sharing with their friends. And hopefully their friends will share with their friends and so on… Lets say for example you have 12 visits to your Facebook page a day and one person shares your content with 250 friends. But then out of those 250 friends 3 more share it with their 250 friends. You’ve just got exposure to 1000 people!
Its a snowball effect. But you need to get the snowball rolling with share attracting content.
Post content that arouses a high level of emotion from viewers
Whether it be anxiety or amusement, fear or flabbergast, if you connect with them on an emotional level it is more likely they will want others to feel the same emotion and share the content. A picture speaks a thousand words, however a high quality image accompanied by the right power words can really leave a sharing impression on your followers.
Use powerful words in your posts
For example, I 100% believe in The Six Figure Mentors and their Digital Experts Academy has taught me step by step how to start and run a successful online business. Now if I was posting about this on my Facebook page and I wrote, “Click here to join the Six Figure Mentors Digital Skills Academy because its good”. I may not get any shares. However if I wrote, “You MUST check out The Six Figure Mentors and the AWESOME Digital Experts Academy. Its transformed my life and I now work from home in my own BUSINESS”. This would get a lot more attention as the power words really help create emotion in the reader. This is a good way of how to drive traffic to your website with Facebook because it makes your content more shareable.
Make your content easier to share
You can put a share button for your social media platforms on your website. A fixed/floating share button panel would be better. This would stay alongside your content in the vision of the reader and if they feel the emotion to share it they can do without delay. There are social media icon plugins you can search for in WordPress. I tried a few before finding the one I preferred for my site. You want people to view and share your content but you also want them to take positive action and go to your website.
Take Full Advantage of Your Calls to Action
Facebook grants you some quite specific opportunities to use calls to action. These are real golden ticket chances for people to engage with your page and then go from your page to your website. This is something you should maximize. When people land on your page they are faced with a series of buttons. Make sure your call to action button stands out and redirects people to your website when it is clicked. You can advertise on Facebook and make even better use of call to action.
You can massively increase your page and post exposure by using targeted Facebook adverts. It is vitally important to make sure your advert targets your AVATAR (target audience). With an advert you have great scope for call to action. If you use a great shareable text embedded image or plain image annotated with a punchy, power word infused description you will be on the right track.
You can generate likes and follows to your actual page OR you can use Facebook Ads to drive traffic to your website or landing page. I feel it best to build a brand by gaining interested and engaged followers. You can do this by targeting your ads at your avatar and having a call to action for them to follow your page. If you then post content they can connect with you can keep them engaged. If they are engaged they are clicking on your call to action buttons and browsing your websites or blogs. It is important your followers feel they are browsing a Facebook page and not a Sales page as this can be off-putting.
Your Facebook page is not a Sales page
A great way of how to drive traffic to your website with Facebook is generating a community of followers that expect awesome things to come from you. Simply posting promotion after promotion will certainly not instill a sense of true value in you as a person or a brand. There is a rule that you can follow called the “rule of thirds”. This can help you maintain a balance by ensuring only third of your content is promoting your business and brand. The next third would be used for engaging your audience and building a relationship with them. The final third would be used to show your audience that you are impartial by sharing external resources that you have found helpful in your journey.
Promote – your brand
Engage – your audience
Amplify – your research sources
Show your audience there’s more to you than a sales person. Show them you want to build relationships with them and embrace the fact that you are not their only source of information. Share other pages, posts and blogs that are relevant. If you leave a lasting impression on your followers because of how good your content is, they will keep coming back. They will come back to you as a package resource. You can leave a lasting impression on your followers with your content but also a high quality eye-catching image on your posts.
Use eye-catching images in your posts
When a post is shared use an image that will be visually appealing to their friends and encourage them to click/share the post. Create a custom image for your content that will attract your followers and encourage shares. Use a program such as Canva, WordSwag, or PicMonkey to embed text in an image. This will visually alert your followers to the emotion in your content. You can also use Yoast SEO to add this image when your post is added and shared to Facebook and Twitter. There are other more advanced ways to do this which are covered in more detail within The Six Figure Mentors Training. However simply downloading and using Yoast SEO would do fine. You can also look to your own profile page for ways of how to drive traffic to your website using Facebook. Lets cover this now.
Optimize your Profile Page
A big emphasis is made on optimizing your Facebook business page/fan page however having an optimized profile is an excellent way of how to drive traffic to your website with Facebook. The first thing to do is make your profile public. Now this may cause concern to some but if you have posts you wish to keep private these can be left private. Just make your future posts public. When you post content to your Facebook fan page and/or group page, post it to your timeline as well. This allows your friends to see it as well. You could even tag friends who you feel this content would benefit. This will then show in their timelines. There is then every possibility that this post will show up in their friends news feed also.
You should also put a link to your website on your profile. Facebook also gives preferential treatment to posts made by friends over those from fan pages. Therefore don’t be afraid to become friends with your fans. Your timeline posts stand a better chance of appearing on their news feed if you are friends with them.
